Jurupa Unified School District - Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
February 28, 2020

The Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) has become an international health concern.  We are following updates from state, local and federal agencies.  It is our objective to provide for the health and safety of our students and staff.

The Riverside University Health System-Public Health (County) is the lead agency regarding communicable diseases in Riverside County. JUSD is monitoring the latest information and works in conjunction with RUHS to ensure the safety of all students and staff.  To remain informed and updated on the topic, please visit the Riverside County Health System-Public Health's website at https://www.rivcoph.org/coronavirus

We encourage you to prevent the spread of germs by following the health guidelines from the Center for Disease Control.  The guidelines are:

  • Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
  • While sick, limit contact with others as much as possible to keep from spreading the virus.
  • If you or your child is sick with flu/cold or respiratory virus symptoms, the CDC recommends that you stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone, except to get medical care or for other necessities.
  • Cover your nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.  If soap and water are not available, use hand sanitizer.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Clean and disinfect surfaces and objects that may be contaminated with germs, like the flu.
  • Do not send your child to school if he/she has a temperature over 100 degrees.  Students must be fever-free for 24 hours without having taken fever-reducing medication (i.e.: Advil, Tylenol, Motrin, etc.)

As an extra precaution, hand sanitizer is being provided to every school and classroom in the district, and door handles will be sanitized daily by JUSD custodial staff. As always, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping to ensure that our students and staff remain healthy and safe, and our students continue to learn in a welcoming environment.
